The school water education interactive map is a navigable resource for students, teachers and families. It uses the MapShare platform to offer an alternative means of accessing the large array of water-related video and study content made available by DEECA and its water agency partners.

This content can also be accessed through the school water education resource pages.

How to use the map

Click on the coloured markers to reveal the content. This will help students access, share and cite the information more effectively in their assignments. The colours correspond to the following themes:

  • green is for environment
  • blue is for management
  • purple is for people.

Additionally, the map features a variety of other features. You can:

  • find content near a specific area by using the ‘Find location’ tool in the top-left corner to search for an address
  • click the 3 lines in the top-left to add or remove data layers
  • zoom in on an area to find more markers and geological locations.

Layers on the map that can be turned on and off include boundaries for:

  • water corporations
  • catchment management authorities
  • registered Aboriginal parties
  • local government areas.

DEECA publishes a wide variety of interactive maps across water, energy and the environment. They are available at the department’s map website.
