The sixth tranche of the Environmental Contribution (EC6) commenced in July 2024 and is expected to generate $706.85 million to reinvest in the sustainable management of water.
There is currently $670.59 million EC6 revenue allocated for expenditure across the 4 years of the EC6 tranche. These EC6 investments will focus on:
- supporting the water sector to manage risks and maintain the long-term sustainability of water resources
- ensuring effective, innovative and efficient use of water resources, including through sustainable and fit-for-purpose water use such as recycled water and stormwater in urban and regional areas
- protecting waterway and catchment health for long-term resilience - supporting economic prosperity, cultural values, health and wellbeing
- funding regional jobs essential for waterway health within catchment management authorities and
- supporting self-determination priorities and increase economic opportunity and jobs for Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians.
Remaining EC6 revenue will be allocated through future State budget processes.
