Our Catchments, Our Communities Leadership Development Grants support the development of future leaders in integrated catchment management in Victoria. The grants are a key initiative of the Our Catchments Our Communities – Integrated Catchment Management in Victoria 2016-19 strategy, Victoria’s first state-wide integrated catchment management strategy.
Our Catchments, Our Communities is funded as part of the Victorian Government’s $222m investment to implement Water for Victoria. Grants are awarded annually until 2020. Recipients are required to share the knowledge and experience gained to strengthen the catchment management sector.
Funding and categories
Funding will be provided for travel, study, research, training and other forms of professional development for integrated catchment management in each of the following categories:
- Innovation: new approaches and knowledge to address contemporary issues
- Aboriginal Leadership: recognising and supporting Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians as leaders
- Women in Leadership: improving diversity and inclusion and the opportunity for women to lead
A total of $10,000 is available under each grant category. The number of recipients in each category will be based on the applications and funding levels requested.

These grants provide funds for activities that support early and mid-career individuals who have a demonstrated track record of accomplishment, are seeking to tackle big challenges, and aim to make an impact in the field of integrated catchment management and/or natural resource management. Applicants must be:
