On 20 December 2019, the Minister for Water announced a review of the regulated Broken system to improve the operations of the system now and into the future for the benefit of all entitlement holders.

The review is being led by a Project Steering Group which will provide the Minister for Water with its final recommendations for the future management of the Broken system by June 2021.

The Project Steering Group comprises of representative entitlement holders from across the Broken system as well as the Goulburn-Broken Catchment Management Authority as waterway manager and Goulburn-Murray Water as storage manager. An independent facilitator and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) are providing ongoing support to the group.

There will be an opportunity for entitlement holders in the Broken System to provide input to the review during the consultation phase before the review is finalised.
