This project involves construction of a pressurised stock and domestic pipeline to increase stock and domestic water access in the rural communities surrounding the town of Wedderburn. This will include connecting the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline to the Waranga Western channel.

The $80.6 million stage 2 project will construct approximately 1,300km of trunk and lateral pipelines to increase water security to approximately 600 landowners in the region. These properties currently rely on local rainfall and catchment dams for their homes and farms.

Total EC3 investment: $9.30 m

2016-17 EC3 expenditure: $9.30 m

Construction of 100km of trunk main and distribution pipeline and pump station was completed in April 2017.  The first landholder connections are expected to occur over the coming months.

Detailed planning for the next stage of the project is underway with construction due to commence in early 2018. The expected completion is 2019-20. The project continues to be funded by the fourth tranche of the environmental contribution (EC4) under the Regional Water Infrastructure initiative.
