Progress
On 8 November 2013, Victoria entered into a funding agreement with Southern Rural Water (SRW) for the delivery of the MID 2030 Phase 1A Project, which is jointly funded by Victoria and SRW.
Southern Rural Water completed the project on time and on budget on 30 June 2017. The project has:
- upgraded 214 regulators and rationalised 114 regulators;
- delivered design of the Southern-Tinamba Pipeline and construction of the balancing storage (Willang Yarn) adjacent to the Thomson River and Cowwarr supply channel; and
- rationalised 110 outlets and upgraded 82 outlets.
The completed works will generate water savings by creating a more efficient irrigation system to support rural water supply needs. As at 30 June 2018, a total of 6.65 gigalitres of long-term annual average water savings have been audited with remaining works to be audited in 2018-19.
