The Victorian Climate Initiative (VicCI) was a three-year research program that ran from 2013 to 2016. VicCI looked at how past and future climate variability and change might impact water resources. The final report was released in August 2017 by the Victorian Government, with research partners, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). It remained one of the main sources of information on the impact of climate on Victoria’s water resources until the release of the Victorian Water and Climate Initiative’s Victoria’s Water in a Changing Climate (PDF, 10.5 MB) in December 2020.

In 2019, VicCI and the previous edition of the Guidelines for Assessing the Impact of Climate Change on Water Supplies in Victoria won the Victorian-Australian Water Association Research Innovation Award category. Watch the below video to learn about the team’s achievements.
