We have a long history of investing in research to improve our understanding of the impact of climate and climate change on water resources. Most recently the Victorian Climate Initiative (VicCI), was designed to further develop our understanding of climate impacts on water availability, to better inform Victorian water resource planning and management. This research was undertaken with research partners the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). The synthesis report highlights the key research outcomes and implications for the water sector in Victoria.

Past investment in research has improved our understanding of recent climate change however, many questions remain. Our commitment to continued investment in research on climate change is outlined in chapter two of Water for Victoria and led to the establishment of the Victorian Water and Climate Initiative with the University of Melbourne, the Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO.
