Water – Learn it! Live it! is a joint initiative of Melbourne’s three water retailers, City West Water, South East Water and Yarra Valley Water. It consists of a suite of educational resources for teachers of prep to Year 10, including:

• curriculum resources
• an accreditation program for schools to acknowledge their achievements
• professional learning for teachers
• the Water-LiLi website.

The initiative helps schools implement water education across the curriculum, with the aim of making a positive change in students’ knowledge, attitudes and behaviour towards water.

The curriculum resource is mapped against the current Victorian curriculum and is easily integrated into the classroom. It enables teachers to tailor and develop their curriculum to engage students and the school community in water education.  You can download the resource for free from the Water-LiLi website.

Many of the resources provided under the Water-LiLi initiative complement the ResourceSmart AuSSI Vic framework. Utilising the Water-LiLi resources alongside other programs such as the Schools Water Efficiency Program (SWEP), Melbourne Water’s education programs and Waterwatch can assist schools to complete the water module within the ResourceSmartAuSSIVic framework.

The Water - Learn it! Live it! accreditation program and supporting resources is available to all primary and secondary schools within Metropolitan Melbourne. Schools located outside of metropolitan Melbourne can access the regional version of the resource via the Water-LiLi website  and can contact their local water authority for additional resources.
