Home & Garden Rebates - Eligible Products
Home and Garden eligible products between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2015
All home and garden rebates are now available to all Victorian domestic households regardless of source of water supply.
Please note that rebates available for all products listed are subject to the relevant terms and conditions, as displayed on the back of the claim form.

Basket of Goods
Products in the “Basket of Goods” attract a $30 rebate when $100 or more is spent on eligible products. Eligible Basket of Goods products are:
- Flow control valve/tap flow reduction devices (these are flow control devices)
- Mulch – extension of definition to include inorganic mulch (pebbles, scoria etc)
- Rainwater diverter
- Waterless carwash products
- Flow interrupter for toilets
- Shower timer
- Compost/mulch bin
- Wetting/moisture agent
- Moisture/rain sensor
- Trigger nozzle
- Drip water system/weep hose
- Garden tap timer
- Temporary Greywater Diverter.
Plumbing Requirements
All rainwater tanks, permanent greywater systems, hot water recirculators, dual-flush toilets and cisterns and tank to the toilet connections must be installed by a licensed plumber. Where required, a Plumbing Industry Commission (PIC) certificate of compliance must be supplied.
A PIC certificate is a Plumbing Industry Commission certificate of compliance that is supplied by a licensed plumber. A PIC certificate must be included with the rebate application if the total value of the product, materials and associated plumbing is greater than $750. Ask your plumber to supply you with a PIC certificate on completion of works.
Australian Standards for rainwater tanks
Rainwater tanks must be designed, manufactured and certified to the relevant Australian Standards to be eligible for a rebate under this program.
Rainwater tank rebates and new homes
The rainwater tank rebates are now available to houses that received a building permit prior to 1 May 2011, which was when the 6 Star Building Standard was introduced. This new policy takes effect from 1 July 2012. Proof of the building permit issue date is required.
New houses that received a building permit after 1 May 2011 are ineligible for the rainwater tank rebate.
Eligible washing machine models
All clothes washing machines must have a minimum 5 star WELS with a 4 star energy rating to be eligible for a rebate.
The following models have been confirmed as having a minimum 5 star WELS and 4 star energy rating.
