Sustainable Irrigation Program
The Sustainable Irrigation Program is administered by the Department of Sustainability and Environment and has annual State funding of around $11 million.
The program:
- develops and implements land and water management plans (LWMPs) in major irrigation regions to lower the environmental impact of irrigation and improve farm water use efficiency;
- supports land and water management plans with strategic investment in research and development projects;
- makes sure Victoria complies with its salinity impact obligations under Schedule C of the Murray-Darling Basin Agreement – the Basin Salinity Management Strategy;
- guides irrigation development to meet sustainability and produce superior results.
