The Sustainable Irrigation Program prepares and manages Land and Water Management Plans as part of broader Regional Catchment Plans.

Land and Water Management Plans aim to improve efficient use of water and protect the environment and third parties from off-site impacts.

Each plan provides a coordinated approach to natural resource management and guides government investment in works and measures.

Land and Water Management Plans are developed with the community and include stakeholder and technically and economically justified activities.

The plans also assist the Minister for Water in funding decisions for natural resource management projects.
