The Victorian Desalination Project was announced in June 2007 as part of Victorian Government’s Water Plan.

Delivery of the Project is being managed by the Department of Sustainability and Environment’s (DSE) Capital Projects Division.

The AquaSure consortium was awarded the contract to build and operate the project following a competitive bidding process.

AquaSure has two major contracting entities engaged to design and construct, and operate and maintain the project.

An Independent Reviewer and Environmental Auditor has also been appointed.

DSE established a Community Liaison Group, comprising six community and council representatives from Bass Coast, Cardinia and City of Casey Council areas and representatives from DSE, AquaSure and Thiess Degrémont.
