Urban Water Restrictions - October 2006

A number of new or increased urban restrictions took effect during October and from 4 November 2006. Key changes included:

  • Stage 1 water restrictions were imposed in all the towns in the areas serviced by Central Gippsland and North East Water.
  • Stage 2 restrictions were imposed for Mansfield and Sunday Creek, all towns in the Western Water and Melbourne regions, five towns supplied from the Tarra River system in South Gippsland, and in Apollo Bay, Skenes Creek and Marengo.
  • Restrictions were increased to Stage 3 for all towns in the Greater Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula and in Birregurra and Forrest.
  • Restrictions were increased to Stage 3 for towns supplied from the Loddon system and for Hamilton, Tarrington, Cavendish and Dunkeld.
  • Stage 4 restrictions were imposed for towns supplied by the Ballarat system, the entire Westernport region, Balmoral and Glenthompson. 

The total number of towns subject to water restrictions as at 4 November 2006 was 314. Ninety-four towns are currently on Stage 1, 40 on Stage 2, 69 on Stage 3, and 111 on Stage 4 restrictions.
