Storage Levels - September 2006

Volumes in the major storages throughout the State reduced by 1.8% in September 2006 (compared with an increase of 8.4 % in September 2005).

At the end of the month, Victoria’s share of the volume in major storages throughout the State was at 31.1% of capacity, compared with 54.4% at the same time last year.

Melbourne Water's storages reduced by 0.9% in September 2006 to finish the month at 45.9% of capacity (13.4% lower than at the same time last year). Rural Water Authority storages reduced by 1.9% to finish the month at 28.4% of capacity (25.1% lower than at the same time last year).

With the exception of the Ovens and Werribee Basins, total storage volumes in all basins reduced slightly (by <1-2%) during the month. The only good increase (of 9.2 %) was for the Ovens Basin.
