Restrictions on Diversions - September 2006

Rosters and restrictions on diversions from unregulated streams

During September, there was an increase in the number of streams subject to rosters and restrictions on diversions from unregulated streams: 

  • In the Melbourne Water area, irrigation bans were imposed on three more streams.
  • In northern Victoria, another nine streams in the Kiewa catchment and one in the Mitta Mitta catchment had irrigation bans imposed.
  • In southern Vitoria, in the Gippsland area, Stage 1 restrictions were imposed on three streams and a total irrigation ban was imposed on one stream. Irrigations bans were imposed on two streams in the Port Phillip Zone.

At the end of September, diversions from a total of 68 streams and lakes across the State were subject to some form of restriction (compared with 7 at the end of September 2005).
