Urban Water Restrictions - September 2007

There were a number of changes to urban water restrictions during September. Key changes included the following:

  • Westernport Water reduced Stage 4 restrictions to Stage 2 for all towns it services.
  • South Gippsland Water lifted Stage 4 restrictions for Fish Creek.
  • North East Water reduced restrictions to Stage 1 for towns that draw water directly from the Kiewa, Ovens and King River systems and reduced restrictions to Stage 2 for towns with reserve storages.
  • Goulburn Valley Water reduced restrictions from Stage 3 to Stage 2 for towns supplied from unregulated systems and reduced restrictions from Stage 4 to Stage 2 for towns supplied from the Goulburn system.
  • Lower Murray Water introduced general exemptions to Stage 4 Water Restrictions from 28 September for all its customers.

The total number of Victorian towns on restriction as at 30 September was 375, of which 24 towns are on Stage 1, 86 are on Stage 2, 12 are on Stage 3, 18 are on Stage 3a, 14 are on Stage 4 with general exemptions and 221 are on Stage 4. Some reductions in the severity of existing restrictions are flagged for October.
