Storage Levels - September 2007
Volumes in the major storages throughout the State increased by 0.8% in September. Victoria’s share of the volume in major storages in the State was at 26.8% of capacity, compared with 31.1% at the same time last year.
Melbourne Water's storages increased by 1.1% in September 2007 to finish the month at 39.8% of capacity (6.1% lower than at the same time last year). Rural Water Authority storages increased by 0.8% to finish the month at 24.5% of capacity (3.9% lower than at the same time last year).
With the exception of the Glenelg/Wimmera Basin, storage volumes tended to increase or remain relatively steady in all of Victoria’s major basins during the month. Storages in the Ovens Basin remained full, as did Lake Moondarra, which continues to spill. Lake Glenmaggie is holding 92.9% of capacity; however, inflows have now dropped off.
On 30 September, storages in the Glenelg-Wimmera Basin had dropped to 8.0% of capacity compared with 6.6% at the same time last year; Lake Eildon was at 22.9% of capacity compared with 20.4% at the same time last year; and Rosslynne Reservoir was at 5.0% of capacity compared with 6.7% at the same time last year. The Murray Basin is holding 23.1%, which is 15.5% lower than at the same time last year.
