Rainfall - October 2007

Very dry conditions continued throughout Victoria during October 2007. Overall, below average rainfall totals were recorded in Northeast, Western, north Mallee and west and south Gippsland districts. Well below average monthly rainfall totals were recorded in Central, North Central, Northern Country, South Mallee and east Gippsland districts.

The highest total of 156.4 mm was recorded at Weeaproinah. The lowest total of 0.0 mm was recorded at Kerang. Three stations spread throughout Central and North Central Victoria recorded their lowest October rainfall totals on record.

Mean daily maximum temperatures were about 2 degrees above normal across the State. Overnight minimum temperatures were slightly above normal in most Districts, with the exception of western Victoria, where overnight temperatures were slightly below normal. 

Melbourne received just 17.6 mm of rain during the month, which is well below the long-term October average of 64.0 mm. The average maximum temperature was 21.4°C. This is 1.7 higher than the October average.
