Urban Water Restrictions - March 2007
A number of new or increased urban water restrictions took effect during March. Key changes included:
- Stage 3 restrictions were imposed for Amphitheatre, Blackwood, Barry’s Reef, Bonnie Doon and Beechworth.
- Stage 4 restrictions were imposed for all towns serviced by East Gippsland Water on the Mitchell River system, which includes Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.
- Stage 4 restrictions were imposed for Longwood, Glenrowan, Myrtleford, all towns on the Lance Creek system and all towns on the Tarwin River system.
- Stage 4 restrictions were imposed for Mount Beauty, Tawonga and Tawonga South on 23 March due to water quality issues. These restrictions were decreased back to Stage 1 on 26 March.
The total number of towns subject to water restrictions as at 31 March 2007 was 456. Ninety-three towns were on Stage 1, 35 on Stage 2, 73 on Stage 3, and 255 on Stage 4 restrictions. Increases in the severity of existing restrictions have already been flagged for April.
