Storage Levels - May 2007

Volumes in the major storages throughout the State increased by 1.1% in May 2007. Victoria’s share of the volume in major storages throughout the State was at 13.4% of capacity, compared with 33.0% at the same time last year.

Melbourne Water's storages reduced by 1.2% in May 2007, to finish the month at 28.8% of capacity (20.4% lower than at the same time last year). Rural Water Authority storages increased by 1.5%, to finish the month at 10.6% of capacity (19.4% lower than at the same time last year). 

Storage volumes tended to increase or remained relatively steady in most basins during May with the exception of the Maribyrnong and Campaspe basins, which decreased by -0.3% and -0.4% respectively. Storages in the Ovens Basin experienced good inflows during the month and rose by 42.3%.

On 31 May, storages in the Glenelg-Wimmera Basin were at 4.6% of capacity compared with 6.5% at the same time last year; Lake Eildon was at 6.5% of capacity compared with 21.7% at the same time last year; and Rosslynne Reservoir was at 4.0% of capacity compared with 7.3% at the same time last year.
