Urban Water Restrictions - June 2007
There were a number changes to urban water restrictions during June. Key changes included:
- North East Water reduced restrictions for Wangaratta, Benalla, Oxley, Moyhu, Bright, Wandiligong, Harrietville and Porepunkah from Stage 4 to Stage 3, as did Goulburn Valley Water for Euroa and Violet Town.
- East Gippsland Water lifted restrictions for Omeo and Swifts Creek and reduced Stage 4 restrictions on the Mitchell River system to Stage 3, as did Gippsland Water for Boolarra, Seaspray and Thorpdale.
- South Gippsland Water lifted Stage 4 restrictions for customers supplied by the Tarra River and Agnes River systems.
- North East Water, Goulburn Valley Water and Coliban Water increased restrictions to Stage 3 for some towns supplied from the Murray and Goulburn systems.
- Lower Murray Water implemented Stage 3 restrictions for its urban customers.
The total number of towns subject to water restrictions as at 30 June 2007 was 457. Twenty-two towns were on Stage 1, 47 on Stage 2, 156 on Stage 3, 18 on Stage 3a and 214 on Stage 4 restrictions. Some increases in the severity of existing restrictions are flagged for July.
