Storage Levels - June 2007

Volumes in the major storages throughout the State increased by 4.6% in June 2007. Victoria’s share of the volume in major storages throughout the State was at 18.0% of capacity, compared with 33.8% at the same time last year.

Melbourne Water's storages increased by 2.2% in June 2007 to finish the month at 31.0% of capacity (17.0% lower than at the same time last year). Rural Water Authority storages increased by 5.0% to finish the month at 15.6% of capacity (15.6% lower than at the same time last year). 

Storage volumes increased in all basins during June with the exception of the Werribee Basin, which remained steady. Significant streamflows at the end of the month contributed to a 14.3% increase in stored volumes in the Thomson-Latrobe Basin. Storage volumes in a number of catchments in the State’s northeast also experienced reasonable increases.

On 30 June, storages in the Glenelg-Wimmera Basin were at 5.6% of capacity compared with 6.4% at the same time last year; Lake Eildon was at 10.8% of capacity compared with 22.1% at the same time last year; and Rosslynne Reservoir was at 4.2% of capacity compared with 7.1% at the same time last year.
