Rosters and restrictions on diversions from unregulated streams
At the end of June, diversions from a total of 149 streams and lakes across the State were subject to some form of restriction (compared with 40 at the end of June 2006 and 207 in May 2007).
Changes in restrictions in northern Victoria reflected the improvement in streamflows over the past two months in basins east of the Goulburn/Broken catchments. Goulburn-Murray Water lifted restrictions for seven streams in the Goulburn River catchment and for 23 streams in the Ovens River basin. Restrictions for the remaining 5 streams on rosters or restrictions in the King River catchment were also lifted.
There were no changes in restrictions on unregulated streams for rivers managed by Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water.
In southern Victoria, Southern Rural Water lifted bans for 2 streams in their Gippsland zone and reduced restrictions for Valencia Creek to Stage 1 roster, following good rains during the month. Restrictions were also lifted for 23 streams in SRW’s Western zone.
Melbourne Water removed irrigation bans or restrictions for 9 streams in its Yarra Basin.
