Storage Levels - July 2007
Volumes in the major storages throughout the State increased by 4.9% in July. Victoria’s share of the volume in major storages throughout the State was at 22.8% of capacity, compared with 34.3% at the same time last year.
Melbourne Water's storages increased by 4.8% in July 2007 to finish the month at 35.8% of capacity (11.4% lower than at the same time last year). Rural Water Corporation storages increased by 4.9% to finish the month at 20.5% of capacity (11.4% lower than at the same time last year).
For the first month this year, storage volumes increased in all of Victoria’s major basins. Goulburn, Campaspe, and Werribee Basins all increased by more than 4%, whilst storages in the Ovens Basin remain full. Lake Moondarra continues to spill. Releases from Lake Glenmaggie are continuing, but it is being held at a reduced level to mitigate potential flooding.
On 31 July, storages in the Glenelg-Wimmera Basin were at 8.8% of capacity compared with 7.2% at the same time last year; Lake Eildon was at 17.5% of capacity compared with 22.6% at the same time last year; and Rosslynne Reservoir was at 4.9% of capacity compared with 7.1% at the same time last year. The Murray Basin is holding 18.6%, which is 27.9% lower than at the same time last year.
