Rosters and restrictions on diversions from unregulated streams
At the end of July, diversions from a total of 118 streams and lakes across the State were subject to some form of restriction (compared with 41 at the end of July 2006 and 149 in June 2007).
Changes in restrictions in northern Victoria were centered on the improvement in streamflows in July in the Campaspe Basin and in catchments east of the Goulburn/Broken Basin. Goulburn-Murray Water lifted restrictions for all 9 streams in the Campaspe River catchment, 6 streams in the Goulburn/Broken catchment, 2 streams in the Mitta catchment and 1 stream in the Murray catchment. An irrigation ban was also lifted in one stream within the Loddon Basin.
There were no changes in restrictions on unregulated streams for rivers managed by Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water.
In southern Victoria, improvements in streamflows in central Victoria allowed Southern Rural Water to lift bans for all streams except one in the Maribyrnong catchment. Restrictions were also lifted for one stream in Gippsland zone. An irrigation ban was placed on Boundary Creek in the Barwon catchment.
Melbourne Water removed irrigation bans or restrictions for the Maribyrnong River but placed a ban on Kororoit Creek.
