Rosters and restrictions on diversions from unregulated streams
At the end of August, diversions from a total of 114 streams and lakes across the State were subject to some form of restriction (compared with 53 at the end of August 2006 and 118 in July 2007).
Changes in restriction status in northern Victoria reflected good continued streamflows in the north east. Goulburn-Murray Water lifted irrigation bans for 3 streams in the Mitta catchment, 3 streams in the Kiewa catchment, and the remaining 8 streams on restrictions in the Goulburn River catchment.
Bans on diversions from all unregulated streams in the Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water region remain in force.
In southern Victoria, Southern Rural Water has restricted diversions from Jacksons Creek (Maribyrnong catchment) to 0% of licenced volume. Melbourne Water introduced irrigation bans for 6 streams and has restricted diversions from an additional 2 streams.
