Rainfall - February 2007
February was a generally hot and dry month, with long periods between rainfall events. Significant rainfalls occurred in East and West Gippsland on the 11th and 28th. A stagnant trough system was responsible for the prolonged period of humid conditions experienced in the second half of the month. This system was responsible for a number of thunderstorms across various parts of the State.

The wettest location overall was Genoa, with 242.6 mm, and the driest overall was Cape Nelson Lighthouse with 2 mm. Some sites had their highest February rainfall for at least 20 years, including Wilson’s Prom.
Across Victoria, maximum temperatures were 1-3°C above average, and some sites had their highest mean February daily maximum temperature on record.
Melbourne received 13.2 mm of rain during the month, compared with an average February rainfall of 45.8mm. Melbourne’s average maximum temperature was 29.0°C which is 3.0°C higher than the February average.
