Storage Levels - April 2008

Volumes in the major storages throughout the state decreased by 2% in April. At the end of the month, Victoria’s share of the volume in major storages in the state was at 18% of capacity, compared with 12.3% at the same time last year.

Melbourne's storages decreased by 1.7% during the month to finish at 31.5% of capacity (1.5% higher than at the same time last year).

Rural water corporation storages decreased by 2.1% to finish the month at 15.5% of capacity (6% higher than at the same time last year).

The decline of storage volumes is because releases for urban and irrigation use are still well above the storage inflows.
