Streamflows - October 2008
At the end of the month, streamflows across Victoria had worsened since September.
Of the 28 representative gauging stations, the highest flows recorded were only between 10-19% of the long-term average, and occurred at only seven gauging stations. The remaining 21 stations recorded flows less than 10% of the long-term average.
The Yarra River at Millgrove recorded the highest percentage of long-term average flow for the month of October by reaching 19%. Flows at this site have been supported by environmental flow releases from Melbourne's water storages.
Of the 28 representative stations across the state, streamlows were equal to or lower than the average flow recorded in the 1982/83 drought at 26 stations across the state. Of the 28 representative stations, streamflows were equal to or lower than the lowest flow on record for October at 11 stations.
