Storage Levels - October 2011
The total volume of water in most of Victoria’s major storages increased marginally during October, despite most individual systems recording decreases over the month. The overall boost was assisted by gains in some of Victoria’s biggest storages, such as Lake Eildon, Thomson and Upper Yarra Reservoirs, and Victoria’s share of resources in the Murray-Darling system. By the end of October, Victoria’s major storages had risen to 88.1% of total capacity.
The total volume in regional Victoria’s major storages rose by 1.2% to 92.3% during October.
Melbourne’s storage levels only increased slightly during October, rising 1.4% to 63.5% of capacity. Thomson Reservoir, Melbourne’s key drought reserve, finished the month at 49.8% full, with plenty of room for improvement over the remainder of spring.
