Streamflows - July 2011
Rainfall across the State in July continued to produce steady runoff in response to low temperatures and evapotranspiration and soaked catchments.
Above average flows occurred at five of 28 representative gauging stations at the end of July, located mainly in the Alpine region and along the south-west coast. The Avoca River at Coonooer again recorded flows below 10% of the long-term July average. Twelve stations recorded flows between 10 and 55% of the long-term July average. The remaining ten stations recorded flows between 56 and 99% of the long-term July average.
At the end of the month, flow at all stations was higher than the historical minimum for July. However the Genoa River in eastern Victoria recorded end-of-month flows lower than the average flows recorded during July of the 2006/07 drought.
