Storage Levels - July 2011

The total volume of water in most of Victoria’s major storages increased during July.  By the end of July, Victoria’s major storages had risen to 82.0% of total capacity.  Victoria’s major storages are now holding more than 10,000 gigalitres (GL) for the first time in more than a decade.

The total volume in regional Victoria’s major storages rose by 2.1% to 85.9% during July.

Continued above average rainfall and inflows combined with low consumption saw Melbourne’s storage levels increase by 3.7% to 59.2% this month.  Thomson Reservoir, Melbourne’s key drought reserve, finished the month at 45.3% full, with plenty of room for improvement during the winter/spring season.
