Streamflows - April 2011

Drier conditions during April saw some end-of-month streamflows recede slightly compared to the high levels recorded during recent months, however, the majority of stations continue to record above average flows.

Above the average flows occurred at 18 of 28 representative gauging stations this month.  There were no stations that recorded below 10% of the long-term April average, however the Avoca River in central-west Victoria and the Genoa River in East Gippsland recorded flows below 20% of the long-term April average this month.  Flows at the remaining stations were between 40 and 80% of the long-term April average.

At the end of the month, flow at all stations was higher than both the historical minimum for April and the 2006/07 April drought flow.
