Rainfall - April 2011
In contrast to the recent wet summer months, rainfall totals during April were generally close to average across most of Victoria. Rainfall was above average in West Gippsland and parts of south-west and central Victoria, while parts of north-east, north-west and central Victoria received below average rainfall. The Mallee region recorded its first month of below average rainfall since July 2010.
The highest total monthly rainfall 151.0 mm was recorded at Weeaproinah in the Otways region, followed closely by 144.6 mm recorded at Mount Baw Baw. A low pressure system brought moderate rainfall across the State during the middle of the month, resulting in Melbourne’s Regional Office station recording 101.8 mm - almost twice its long-term average rainfall for April.
