Rainfall - March 2011
Victoria experienced another wet month during March, recording above average rainfall across large parts of the State. Rainfall was very much above the average in north-western and western Victoria, with many stations doubling their typical March rainfall this month. Mildura recorded rainfall totals above 100mm for the fifth month in a row – this is the longest run of such wet conditions on record for that site.
Rainfall was also very much above average in the West and East Gippsland regions. A complex low pressure system in the region resulted in 139.8 mm in a single day at Wilsons Promontory towards the end of the month. The highest total rainfall of 217.4 mm was recorded at Combienbar in East Gippsland. Rainfall in the Melbourne region was average.
