Storage Levels - January 2011
The total volume of water in most of Victoria’s major storages declined slightly compared to the end of December, however, other storages recorded increases as a result of heavy rainfall in the middle of the month.
By the end of January, Victoria’s major storages were at 75.3% of total capacity. The volume of water in regional storages around Victoria increased slightly overall, rising 0.6% to 79.1%. The volume of water in Rosslynne Reservoir again increased significantly in January, finishing the month at 66.6% - its highest volume for more than a decade.
Melbourne’s storage levels fluctuated slightly over the month in response to usage, hot weather and rainfall. As a result, storages finished the month at 53.0% capacity – the same as at the end of December.
