Urban Water Restrictions - December 2010
There were no changes to urban water restrictions across the State during December.
Only 154 Victorian towns were subject to water restrictions at the end of December 2010. Notably, there are now only two towns subject to severe Stage 4 (with exemptions) restrictions, and no towns are subject to Stage 4 restrictions. The towns on Stage 4 (with exemptions), Streatham and Westmere, are supplied by groundwater and the current shortage has been caused by temporary infrastructure limitations that will be resolved in early 2011. This time last year, 95 towns (out of a total of 266 towns on restrictions) were subject to Stage 4 or Stage 4 (with exemptions) restrictions.
Over 360 towns are not on restrictions, but are subject to permanent water savings rules.
