Urban Water Restrictions - November 2010

On 1 November, Central Highlands Water removed restrictions for seven of its towns on groundwater supplies, including Avoca and Clunes.  Stage 3 restrictions for Maryborough and district were reduced to Stage 1, and Stage 4 restrictions for the Forest Hill supply system were reduced to Stage 3.

By the end of November, only 154 Victorian towns were subject to water restrictions.  Notably, there are now only two towns subject to severe Stage 4 (with exemptions) restrictions, and no towns are subject to Stage 4 restrictions.  The towns on Stage 4 (with exemptions), Streatham and Westmere, are supplied by groundwater and the current shortage has been caused by temporary infrastructure limitations.  This time last year, 109 towns (out of a total of 266 towns on restrictions) were subject to Stage 4 or Stage 4 (with exemptions) restrictions.

Over 360 towns are not on restrictions, but are subject to permanent water savings rules.
