Streamflows - October 2010
Rainfall was intermittent throughout October, and the trend of streamflow improvement seen in previous months continued. Heavy rainfall in the last few days of the month caused flooding in parts of eastern Victoria.
Of the 28 representative streamflow gauging stations, two stations located in the Alpine region recorded flows above the long-term October average at the end of the month. A further 23 stations recorded flows between 10 and 79% of the long-term October average.
At the end of the month, three stations located in far east Gippsland, the Wimmera and Moorabool regions recorded flows less than 10% of the long-term October average. However, the end-of-month flow at all stations was higher than the historical minimum for October, and higher than the 2006/07 October drought flow.
