Storage Levels - October 2010
The volume of water in regional storages around Victoria increased significantly over the month. Overall, regional water storages increased by 5.1% to 73.3% of capacity at the end of October.*
Melbourne’s storage levels continued to improve over the month and by the end of October the volume in store was 49.5% of capacity, 2.6% higher than at the end of September.
*NB: There has been a number of changes in regional storage capacities during October 2010. Changes to the total storage capacities for the Ballarat, Geelong, and Wimmera-Glenelg regions are the result of new water sharing arrangements being put in place during October. The Murray-Darling Basin Authority also introduced revised capacities for Hume and Dartmouth dams this month. These changes will affect the total storage capacities and percentages for each basin where the changes were made, as well as the overall figures for the regional storages and total resource availability for Victoria.
