Storage Levels - September 2010
The high rainfall event in early September contributed significant inflows to storages, particularly in northern and western Victoria. By the end of September, Victoria’s major storages were at 63.6% of total capacity.*
The volume of water in regional storages around Victoria increased significantly over the month. Overall, regional water storages increased 13.7% to 66.4% of capacity at the end of September.* There is now more than twice as much water in store than September 2009, when the major regional storages were only at 31.2% of total capacity.
Melbourne’s storage levels continued to improve over the month and by the end of September the volume in store was 46.9% of capacity, 5.6% higher than at the end of August.
*NB: From April 2010, the volume of Victoria’s share of water held in the Menindee Lakes has been included in the regional and total storage figures.
