Streamflows - August 2010

Above average rainfall during August has resulted in significant improvements surface runoff to streams at the end of the month.  Of the 28 representative stations, eleven stations recorded flows above the long-term August average.  These stations were mainly located in the upper catchments of the Southwest, the Alpine region, and the lower Loddon River.

At the end of the month, only one station recorded flow below 10% of the long-term August average.  This was the Moorabool River at Batesford, however, some flow was recorded.  Two stations recorded end-of-month flow between 10 and 39% of the long-term August average.  Flow at the remaining 14 stations ranged between 40 and 99% of the long-term August average.

All stations recorded end-of-month flow higher than the historical minimum for August.
