Storage Levels - July 2010
There was a 5.1% increase in the total volume in the state’s major storages for the month. By the end of July, Victoria’s major storages were at 39.6% of total capacity.*
The volume of water in most regional storages around Victoria increased over the month. Overall, regional water storages increased 5.6% to 40.2% of capacity at the end of July.*
Melbourne’s storage levels continued to improve over the month, and by the end of July, storages were 1.7% higher than levels at the end of June, finishing the month at 35.5% capacity. Although total rainfall remains below average, reasonable rainfall towards the end of the month has kept catchments wet, which should help facilitate further inflows during the normally wetter winter/spring months.
*NB: From April 2010, the volume of Victoria’s share of the capacity of the Menindee Lakes has been included in the regional and total storage figures.
