Urban Water Restrictions - May 2010
On 1 May Barwon Water removed Stage 2 restrictions on Apollo Bay, Skenes Creek and Marengo following the end of the major tourism season. Permanent water saving rules now apply in these towns.
On 18 May, Western Water reduced Stage 3A restrictions for its towns (including Sunbury, Macedon, Melton and Bacchus Marsh) to Stage 3, in line with Melbourne’s current restriction levels.
At the end of May, 243 Victorian towns were on restrictions. This is significantly lower than the same time last year, when 341 towns were on restrictions. Of the current towns on restrictions, 87 were on Stage 1 restrictions, 11 on Stage 2, 111 on Stage 3, 16 on Stage 4 with general exemptions and 18 on Stage 4. There are now no towns on Stage 3A restrictions. Approximately 270 towns were not on water restrictions but were subject to permanent water saving rules.
