Urban Water Restrictions - April 2010
On 2 April, Stage 3a restrictions for Melbourne and Wallan were reduced to Stage 3. On 10 April, North East Water removed Stage 4 restrictions for Bundalong, as the blue green algae outbreak on the Murray had sufficiently receded.
On 24 April, Coliban Water reduced Stage 2 restrictions for Leitchville to Stage 1. Gippsland Water removed Stage 2 restrictions for Seaspray on 27 April, while North East Water removed Stage 2 restrictions for Glenrowan on 30 April. Permanent water saving rules now apply.
At the end of April, 246 Victorian towns were on restrictions. This is significantly lower than the same time last year, when 340 towns were on restrictions. Of the current towns on restrictions, 87 were on Stage 1 restrictions, 14 on Stage 2, 94 on Stage 3, 17 on Stage 3a, 16 on Stage 4 with general exemptions and 18 on Stage 4. Approximately 270 towns were not on water restrictions but were subject to permanent water saving rules.
