Streamflows - April 2010
Despite drier weather than March, the pattern of stream flows at the end of April closely resembles those at the end of March. Six of the 28 representative stations, located in the Alpine, West Gippsland and West Coast regions recorded flow above 100% of the long-term April average.
At the end of the month, 10 stations experienced flow below 10% of the long-term April average, and five of those stations recorded no flow. These streams were typically located in the western half of the state.
Of the remaining stations, flow at seven stations ranged between 10 and 49% of the long-term average, while five recorded flow between 50 and 99% of the long-term April average.
The highest flow was recorded on the Rose River at Matong North, at 465% of the long-term April average.
Compared to the average flow during the1982/83 drought, 15 stations recorded lower or equal end-of-month flow. However, 23 stations recorded flows higher than the historical minimum.
