Rainfall - March 2010
Total rainfall for March was above average across most of the state. Patches of central and western Victoria received rainfall that was very much above the long-term March average. This was largely due to intense storms in the period 5-8 March.
The highest monthly rainfall of 213.6 mm was recorded at Mount Hotham in the Alpine region, which was well above the March average. A further 82 rainfall stations recorded the highest total rainfall for March on record. 112 stations recorded the highest March total for at least 10 years.
Rainfall for Melbourne was above average during March. This reduced consumption of water and slowed the rate of decline in Melbourne’s storages.
