Storage Levels - February 2010
Average and above average rainfall across Victoria during February did not produce significant inflows in many areas, however, it did contribute to reduced demand in some regions. This slowed the rate of decline in storage levels, resulting in only a small decrease (-1.8%) in the total volume in the state’s major storages since the end of January. By the end of February, Victoria’s major storages were at 21.7% of total capacity.
Melbourne’s storage levels receded slowly over the month, and by the end of February storages were 1.2% below the levels at the end of January, finishing the month at 34.9% of capacity. This is 4% higher than the same time last year.
Overall, regional water storages decreased by 1.9% to 19.9% of capacity at the end of February.
