Rainfall - February 2010

Total rainfall for February was above average across most of the state.  North-east Victoria and patches of central and south-west Victoria received rainfall that was very much above the long-term February average.

The highest monthly rainfall of 278.4 was recorded at Reeves Knob on the border of the Thompson and Mitchell river basins.  A further 28 stations (located mainly across eastern Victoria) recorded the highest total rainfall for February on record.

Rainfall for Melbourne was average or slightly above average during February.  This reduced demand during the wetter periods of the month, and contributed to slowing the rate of decline in Melbourne’s storage levels.
